Connections Fine Arts Gallery

Connections Fine Arts Gallery will open to the public in June 2004. With wide support from the community, elected public officials including former Mayor David Dinkins, this gallery promises to build upon the City's gorgeous mosaic and the changing Harlem landscape.

Connections Fine Arts Gallery is located in Mount Morris Park community in Harlem, one of New York City's finest historical landmark neighborhoods. The gallery is across from Marcus Garvey Park between 120th and 121st streets and Mount Morris Park West in the garden level of a brownstone. The gallery's venue is an example of the numerous redevelopment efforts occurring in the Harlem community. While still in it's first phase of development, the ultimate goal of Connections Fine Arts Gallery (CFAG) is to promote art that highlights Harlem's second renaissance.

Connections Fine Arts Gallery is positioned both geographically and culturally, to achieve its mission. CFAG has three goals: first, to bring people together to appreciate the diversity of others through art; second, to sell cultural art forms that will be cherished in various homes and shared with others; and third, to promote the architectural and historical contributions of the Mount Morris Park neighborhood.

Lisa Downing, Brearley '85, is the principal and founder of Connections Consulting Company & Connections Fine Arts Gallery. The current exhibition features the work of artist Z O Oloruntoba from Oshogbo, Nigeria. Chief Oloruntoba's work has been recently selected by Essence Magazine for the September 2004 issue featuring how to create a stress free home environment. In 2005, the gallery will be featured on the television show "Full Plate" on TV1.
